Reject Repoly

Media Release from Cr Rachel Russel

RePoly Update

Rachel Russell has withdrawn as a respondent.

Her Media Release reads:

Cr Russell repositions for the next round vs Repoly

Cr Rachel Russell joined the legal fight against Repoly’s attempt to overturn the IPC‘s decision against the Moss Vale plastics recycling factory last year, when Wingecarribee Council voted not to become a party in the Land and Environment Court case. The environmental law firm Johnson Legal has been representing Councillor Russell, enlisting Bianca Collingwood as barrister.

“ I entered this case to reassure my community that all the resources we needed would be able to come on board for the legal fight”, said Cr Russell

“Johnson Legal has been fantastic to work with in the conciliation conference, to help carry the concerns of our community through the closed process. I know our community is exceedingly grateful for their generosity and support. I would also like to acknowledge the united community effort and the work of Reject Repoly in their
fundraising efforts”.

“All the bases are now covered for the legal case, so I will continue to support the fight in my role as a Councillor.”

“I know, together, we will win this fight to protect the health, safety and prosperity of our beautiful Southern Highlands. “

The next stage in the RePoly fight is the hearing in Sydney at the Land & Environment Court from 19th – 30th October.  We are waiting to hear whether day one of the hearing will be on site, in which case we will inform the community.

This is a public hearing, and our community can attend.   For those wishing to attend, we suggest people carpool or catch the train.  If a bus is arranged, we will let you know.
